Purcell, Inc. Featured in 2005 Parade of Homes Remodelors Showcase™

White Bear Lake, MN, August 19, 2005 – The public is invited to tour a recently remodeled home in Minneapolis free of charge during the upcoming Parade of Homes Remodelors Showcase™, October 14-16, 2005. This kitchen renovation was designed and constructed by Purcell, Inc. a remodeling firm. The home is located at 1784 Dupont Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and will be open on October 14 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., and on October 15 and 16 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.

This beautiful, beaux-arts updated, Victorian brick home provided Purcell with the design challenge to take kitchen and service spaces that had been originally designed for use by the family servants, and convert them into spaces that the homeowner would find completely comfortable for living and entertaining in. Three historical formal spaces, the library, formal parlor and dining room surround this project, and the new design respects this existing formal style, and improves the connections with the 19th Century ambiance.

The renovated space functions include kitchen, informal eating, home office, service bar, pantry, secondary laundry, back entry and coat closet, and powder room. Because there are so many functions to be included in the design, the solution is divided into three basic multifunctional areas. For example, the wet bar is carefully integrated with the service bar for economy of space.

The area of the project was in desperate need of structural repair to the floor and ceiling. We re-created the existing window opening in the laundry area, which was previously bricked in, for more natural light.

Products and finishes provided for this project include: oak and cherry inlay pattern floor, enameled cabinets with integrated leaded glass doors from the original kitchen, in-sink dishwasher, handmade tiles for the backsplash, beam ceiling, custom half-round banquet seating and countless others.

This 21st Century kitchen provides all the detailed organization of cooking functions demanded by a client for enjoyment in creating their own gourmet meals.
